Drag Quads fight for a piece of $7,000

Pacific Northwest Shootout

High performance racing quads drawn to the Pacific Northwest Shootout save weight with fuel cells holding a quart or less of fuel. Since max horsepower is achieved when the fuel and motor are cool, that means a short walk to final staging.Dirt N Dunez Photography

The popularity of ATV sand drag racing continues to grow with the addition of another major regional race to the fast action sport. Last week’s 3-day Pacific Northwest Shootout attracted racers from Canada, Washington, Oregon, California and Arizona to battle it out for plaques and just over $7,000 in prize money on Albany Motorsports Park’s drag track in Albany, Oregon. Thanks to Julie at www.dirtndunez.com for the killer images.

Ninety-three ATVs in 21 different Classes entered a variety of races including Pro Gambler (3.90 seconds & slower) and Hot Rod Gambler (3.89 seconds & faster) Bracket competitions, Sport Light and Pro Light Bracket races, Quick 8 Competitions and Pro Heads-up Index Races. There was even intense but friendly Saturday night Street Outlaw style “call-out” heads-up grudge racing.

The event was conceived and produced by seasoned Oregon racer Chris Arnett and was sponsored by Redline Racing, Cuervo Racing, Oregon Coast Powersports, DTR Racing, H.O.D. Custom Chassis and Fabrication, Direct Drive CNC, Reeves Diesel Repair, Home Wrecker Racing, Affordable Construction Specialties, Racers Edge, SandragR Wheelie Bar Wheels and Kam Kreative.
