Top 10 Craziest ATVs

Some of the most ridiculous & awesome ideas of all time

The saying "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" might strike a chord with those of you old enough to have a fondness for the classic flick, The Shining. Jack, played by Jack Nicholson, was a bonafide whack job. The character loses his mind and essentially goes crazy, much the way this winter made me feel. Unfortunately, "crazy" sometimes gets a bad rap. In real life, crazy can be awesome, memorable, and perhaps even legendary. We've chosen ten of the "craziest" ATV's/UTV's ever built. Some of these machines have made the list due to innovation, some for their radical design, and a few just because they were plain crazy!

Kawasaki Duckster

Kawasaki Duckster: In the early 80's, three-wheelers were all the rage. The Kawasaki Duckster is what may have been conceived if one of the bearded Duck Dynasty guys were cross-bred with an 80's style three-wheeler. Based on the KLT200, the Duckster had front and rear racks and camo plastic, but it had neither front or rear suspension.ATV Rider

Gibbs Quadski

Gibbs Quadski: It's a quad. It's a boat. It's both....it's the Quadski! Powered by a 1300cc BMW engine hooked to both a drive and jet propulsion system, the Quadski is capable of 45mph on both water and land. Retracting wheels that react within about five seconds make the transition from water to land and vice versa almost seamless.ATV Rider

Jet Powered Polaris RZ

Jet-Powered Polaris RZR: After having 3 or 4 jet ATVs and a ridiculously loud, 300mph jet-powered school bus, Paul Stender decided it was time to drop a jet in his 2013 Walker Evans 900 XP RZR. Fortunately, we were able to test it. As soon as the RZR's turbines winded up and the flames started shooting out, cars just stopped. Some people had no clue what was going on and others drove by giving us the thumbs up. The 2000hp engine was taken from a Sikorskey helicopter and can approach speeds upwards of 200mph. .The sound is incredible, it literally sounds like a jet taking off in the driveway.ATV Rider

Polaris MV850

Polaris MV850: When the shizzle hits the fizzle, it's good to know companies like Polaris are putting machines like the MV850 into the hands of the bravest warriors in the world. Based on the civilian Polaris Sportsman 850, the MV850 is part GI Joe, part Hummer, and pretty much all badass.ATV Rider

Parajet USA SkyJet

Parajet USA SkyJet: Part UTV and part airplane, the SkyJet flies....quite literally! With a zero to sixty time of around four seconds and a top speed of 115mph, this machine is like no other. Howe and Howe Technologies Mini Ripsaw

Howe and Howe Technologies Mini Ripsaw: Born from a Polaris Sportsman 850 chassis and powerplant, the Howe brothers re-engineered Mini Rip to run a smaller set of their proprietary tracks and control system made famous by Mini Rips big brother, The Ripsaw. This machine is an absolute mud bog monster. Mini Rip will certainly go down in history as the wildest machine I've ever ridden!ATV Rider

Yamaha TerraPro

Yamaha TerraPro: The first, and only ATV to ever incorporate Power Take Off (PTO) was the short-lived Yamaha TerraPro. Manufactured to utilize a wide range of special build attachments like post hole diggers, tillers, agricultural sprayers, rough cut mowers, and finish mowers, the TerraPro was a beast. Powered by a 350cc four-stroke, fan-cooled engine, it also incorporated a Hi/Lo range ten speed transmission with a locking rear differential.ATV Rider

Honda Odyssey/Pilot

Honda Odyssey/Pilot: Originally released as the FL250 from '77 - '84, the Honda Odyssey was an all-new design idea that combined the terrainability of an ATV with the ease of driving a car. It was arguably the first UTV every released. From '85 - '89, a redesign saw an evolution into the FL350. The last two years of production were '89 - '90, and the FL400R gained more performance and was renamed the Pilot.ATV Rider

Argo

Argo: In production since the 60's, the all-wheel-drive, amphibious Argo is still in production today. It's strengths are being able to access remote hunting or recreational areas typically only reachable via a boat. Available in either six or eight wheel drive versions, the Argo is focused on getting occupants from point A to point B, even if there's a whole ton of badness in between.ATV Rider

Polaris Big Boss
