In many cases, a base model from a manufacturer means a stripped-down machine with almost no frills. Fortunately, Can-Am doesn’t follow that practice. Instead, the only real creature comfort missing from its base model is electronic power steering.
The heart of Can-Am’s models have always been the Rotax twins, and the Renegade benefits from three great Rotax offerings. The big-bore models (850/1,000) utilize Rotax V-twins, with the choice of either a 78-hp 850cc or a 91-hp 1,000cc engine. Also available is a 570cc, 48-hp Rotax twin.
Even the Renegade base models incorporate the new arched double front A-arms, utilizing Can-Am’s dive control geometry and offering up 9.2 inches of suspension travel. Out back, a new torsional trailing arm (TTI) rear suspension helps eliminate camber changes as the suspension articulates through a range of motion on the trails and offers nearly 10 inches of rear travel. These Renegade models also get Fox Podium 1.5 shocks!
All models come with 12-inch cast aluminum wheels wrapped in 25-inch ITP ATR Holeshot rubber. The drivetrain features a fully automatic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with selectable 2WD/4WD, and a Visco-Lok automatically locking front differential.
A six-month factory warranty is standard, with the option of up to 36 months of extended warranty.
