Best Wheelie Machines of All-Time

ATVs & ATCs for the Wheelie Connoisseur

I’d wager a bet that many of our readers have some useful, amazing talents that they often feel they need to hide away. Maybe you can shred Eruption better than Eddie Van Halen. Or, perhaps you’re a bookworm that engulfs every new piece of literature you can get your paws on. Me? I’ve always been a wheelie guy. If it has a wheel, I’ve tried to ride a wheelie…and my money’s on that fact that most of our loyal readers are the same way. For kicks, we’ve decided to compile a list of the best wheelie machines the crew here at ATV Rider Magazine have thrown a leg over. I’m sure there’s many more machines that could have made the list, but we’ve gotta draw the line somewhere. With that said, I guarantee every wheelie guy or gal who’s had their mitts on one of these machines will definitely concur that they’re as comfortable on back two wheels as they are on three or four!

Every Honda ATC Ever Built

Every Honda ATC ever built: This one’s a no-brainer. Whether we’re talking an ATC250r, ATC200X, ATC350X, or hell……even the diminutively powered ATC110 and its brethren, the light front end on Honda’s ATC’s made them wheelie kings!ATV Rider

Honda TRX90

Honda TRX90: At some point, every self-respecting little off-roader needs to learn how to bust out proper wheelies. The TRX90 is by no means super powerful, but a little slip of the gear shifter on the semi-manual transmission is all it takes to get the front end in the air. The low range first gear keeps speeds down and the front end up!ATV Rider

Yamaha Blaster

Yamaha Blaster: Two-stroke power plant, lightweight, short wheelbase, and manual transmission make for the perfect combination of pre-mix spewing wheelie superiority.ATV Rider

Can-Am Renegade & Outlander 800/1000

Can-Am Renegade & Outlander 800/1000: If you’re a heavyweight, you better be strong. The killer Can-Am power plant bolted into the heavy Renegade chassis gives it arm tugging power to loft the front wheels effortlessly skyward.ATV Rider

Kawasaki Brute Force 650/750i

Kawasaki Brute Force 650/750i: The venerable Kawasaki V-twin lurking under the stout bodywork is the recipe for wheelies. The Brute Force might be excellent for working around the farm, but the stout engine makes in nearly perfect if you’re nuts about wheelies.ATV Rider

Suzuki LTZ400/Kawasaki KFX400/Arctic Cat 400 DVX

Suzuki LTZ400/Kawasaki KFX400/Arctic Cat 400 DVX: In case you didn’t know, except for the name and some rebadging, the Suzuki/Kawasaki/Arctic Cat 400 triples were basically the same machine. Manual transmission, lightweight, and excellent power made any of these machines excellent at popping wheelies.ATV Rider

Polaris Scrambler & Sportsman 850/1000

Polaris Scrambler & Sportsman 850/1000: The Scrambler and Sportsman 1000 are strong like bull….and as such, they make excellent machines to bust out killer wheelies!ATV Rider

Yamaha Raptor 700

Yamaha Raptor 700: When it comes to modern day wheelies on a sport ATV, I think the Raptor certainly vies for King of the Hill! With monster torque and a light chassis, a skilled rider can pull the front end in the air with ease.ATV Rider

Honda TRX250EX/300EX/400EX

Honda TRX250EX/300EX/400EX: The TRX EX’s as we like to call them all make excellent machines to practice the art of the wheelie. Manually shifted transmissions and a lightweight chassis again result in the perfect ingredients for a wheelie monster!ATV Rider

Yamaha Raptor 250

Yamaha Raptor 250: The Raptor 250 is one of the best small sport ATV’s ever built. It was great at many things, and hucking wheelies has to be at the top of that list of talents.ATV Rider
