Norco, CA. (December 2, 2008) - Dustin Nelson, Yamaha Factory ATV racer and DRD ATV Brand Manager, clinched his second Quadcross Championship in convincing fashion with a dominating 1-1 finish; the victory and the title were won with one round still remaining on the schedule. With the pressure of the championship off his shoulders, Nelson looked for a new challenge/opportunity coming into the final round at Glen Helen in San Bernardino, Ca.
Nelson approached Yamaha with the idea of racing their all-new 2009 YFZ450R in his final race of the season. With limited seat time aboard the production YFZ450R, Nelson made a few adjustments, added a DRD exhaust system, a few accessories, and entered the Glen Helen round with the hopes of bringing Yamaha a win in the YFZ450R's race debut.
Though ill and nursing a recently broken wrist, Dustin Nelson set the stage immediately, launching out of the gate on his DRD-backed YFZ450R, getting the holeshot and leading from start to finish, emblematic of the his season. Nelson foreshowed the '09 race season for his competition; that two titles have not slowed his determination and that, coupled with the new, race-ready YFZ450R, he will be the odds-on favorite to 3-peat.
Dubach Racing Development (DRD) congratulates Dustin Nelson on his second Quadcross Championship and ending the year in grand fashion on the new YFZ450R.
