Always change your Polaris RZR XP 1000 oil filter whenever changing oil. If you don’t have a filter handy and the Polaris dealership is inconveniently out of town, the automotive style spin on filter can be sourced at Napa, Autozone, or other automotive parts stores.
We will show you the step by step of properly changing your Polaris RZR XP 1000’s oil and filter. This service is pretty much identical on the XP 900 with the exception of the first year (09), which is a dry sump. To change the 09 you must also drain the external oil tank and then fill oil through the tank itself.
Access the oil dipstick through the right rear wheel well. The oil cap is accessed through the removable service panel in the floor of cargo bed. The crankcase drain plug is on the bottom of crankcase and accessed through the skid plate access hole.
